Tip Tuesday: Social Media Series - Part 2

We recently shared five tips on how to increase your social media engagement. We will break each of these points down and go into more detail to offer you additional support.

This week, for Part 2, we’ll share a few more tips on how  you can add a personal element to your page to help increase your social media engagement.

Your brand is you, so it can be useful to ensure future clients know a little about who you are before they come to you, and for your existing clients to find out a little more. Clients return not only for your fabulous nails, but for you too! Sharing a bit about yourself will helps your existing clients connect further with you.

Of course, it’s also important to show case which services you offer, what sets you apart, the brand choices you have made, and your skill set. Potential clients will need this information before booking with you, so make sure it’s clear on your page.  If your clients trust you, they will trust the choices you make when it comes to the brands you use. So, make sure you research any brands you choose to invest in, ensure you carry out training for each brand and that you are confident in its safety.

Things to think about

  • Are you passionate about a specific brand?
  • Do you have a love for nail art?
  • Are you a natural nail specialist?
  • Do you love sculptures and extensions?
  • Are you a lover of all things nails?
  • Do you offer luxury add-on services like mini massages?
  • Are you in a remote area or offer mobile services?

Your USP should be clear when people arrive on your page. When looking for a new nail tech, we are often drawn to specific styles of work, or for a specific skillset. This can often be communicated through images only, but to set yourself aside further, it’s nice to share more about YOU and what you offer. That could be the difference of someone choosing to book with yourself, rather than another salon or nail tech. After all, your unique selling point is YOU.

Sharing doesn’t have to be scary!

Using your stories is a great way to share about yourself and you can do occasional posts on your main page or grid to add personal elements without it taking over the professional posts of your work. You won’t need to use images, or videos of yourself if you aren’t comfortable.

They are a fun way for your clients (and potential clients) to get to know you a little, and they don’t need to be too deep & meaningful (unless you want them to be).

Once you’ve posted a story, you can save it to your highlights and name it about ‘About Me’ where others can find the info when they land on your page.

You can also post little behind the scenes of your working day, to your stories, these can be photos or videos. Show your workspace, show off your colour collection or nail art!

Photo time

A great option for a post on your main page or grid, is to share a recent photo of yourself and write a little bio. This can then be pinned to the top of your page, so it’s easy to find. You don’t need to go into much detail, but you can bring in some elements about yourself, the brands you use and also those business USPs we covered above.

Don’t overdo it!

Oversharing can sometimes put clients off, you want to give an insight to who you are, but not everything should be shared on your business page. It’s always important to have some separation – unless it directly impacts your business or you clients, then you can share a summarised version without going into all the detail.

Ready to get personal?

If your goal is to reach new clients and expand your business, social media is a great way to do this, and can be done totally for free, if you’re not looking to run paid ads. Be sure to always give an honest presentation of yourself and your work, and the right clients that fit with you and your business, will hopefully find you!

Templates

To get your started, we’ve created some downloadable templates for you to save and share to your stories & save to your highlights if you want. You can also create your own and we’d recommend using Canva to do this. It’s a user-friendly online platform that gives you access to thousands of templates you can edit, many of them are available for free! They also allow you to upload photos, so if you wanted a bio photo with some text, you could do this on Canva, in a style you like that fits with your branding.

We’ll cover more stories and reels ideas in a later segment on increasing engagement with interactive stories.

Our two ‘Get to Know Me’ templates include one with a solid background colour and one without.  Download them on your phone and save to photos to add to your story when you’re ready.

If you’d like to post the one without a background, you can upload a photo of yourself, or a nice scene. Select your background image first, then go back in and select “Photo Icon” and choose the template. Then select the draw icon and circle your ‘This or That’ choices or use the text tool to fill in the answers to the ‘Get to Know Me’ template.
